Akosua Kwakye popularly known as AK Songstress, is a brilliant young dancehall artiste from Ghana’s Ashanti Region. She was raised by her grandma and two siblings.
Akosua discovered her love of acting and singing at a young age. She participated in various singing events at school. After graduating from high school, she chose to pursue a career in singing and was signed by Paradise Entertainment, the original brand behind 444 and VIP.
She has presently published twenty-four tracks that have received extensive exposure, as well as nine videos in Ghana and South Africa.
She was managed by Paradise Entertainment.
At the 2014 BASS Awards, Ak Songstress became the first female to win ‘Discovery of the Year for Dancehall/Reggae Artiste’ in a field of male nominees. She also won the first season of “SUPERSTARS REALITY SHOW” with her song “HOLIDAY” being named the most popular song of the competition, and her team was named the BEST MANAGEMENT TEAM.
AK Songstress, on the other hand, was barred from attending the 2015 VGMAs by her management. She was named Best Female Musician (GH) at the 2015 City People Entertainment Awards in Nigeria. In 2015, she was also named the best female vocalist at the Bass Awards.
Her partnership with dancehall artist Sizzla Kalonji is the pinnacle of her career. She adores animals, particularly snakes.
