Dancehall artists Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy seem to be at odds with each other again after a mix-up about booking the Accra Sports Stadium for their separate shows in December.

People will remember that at the beginning of September, Shatta Wale said that his Freedom Wave Concert would be on December 25. In a flyer that was shared on social media, it said that a number of events would start on December 20 and end on December 25.

Stonebwoy, on the other hand, said earlier this week that his annual Bhim show will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium in December.

The Kakai hitmaker may not have been happy with how things turned out, so he went on social media to talk about it and accuse Stonebwoy and his team of trying to ruin his show with Medikal, which has been happening at the Accra Sports Stadium for the past two years.

The Kakai hitmaker hinted in a Facebook Live video posted on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, that the stadium’s officials had been swayed to let Stonebwoy’s show happen three days before his with rapper Medikal.

He said that he couldn’t set up a good show at the stadium in less than three days because the police had told his team that it took three days to set up a good show for a concert at the stadium.

So, I was pretty confused when the same stadium’s officials said that Stonebwoy could have his show on December 22.

“You told my team that it takes three days to set up for a show at the stadium. So, if your show is on the 25th, you need to set up on the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. My team heard you say that.

“He [Stonebwoy] could have done it on December 10 or any other day in December. Why do you waste our time? Why? And the Professor said they would look into it,” he said.

Meeting with both groups

A story from myjoyonline.com, however, said that Professor Peter Twumasi, the Director General of the National Sports Authority, said that they had met with both sides several times and agreed to their terms.

“We got together with his people and agreed to these terms. They are fine. “I have the 25th of December booked for Shatta, the 22nd for Stone, and other dates in December for other people,” he said.

He also said that neither party had been stopped by the authority from having their concerts.

The offer by Stonebwoy

In the same report, it was also said that Stonebwoy’s road manager, Chief Abiola, told Hitz FM in an interview that his team was ready to work with Shatta Wale on logistics to make setting up for the Freedom Wave Concert easier, but Shatta Wale turned down the offer.

“Sammy Flex told me that Shatta Wale didn’t like the timing, so we should try to give them more time to set up. So I took it back to my team and talked with them about it.

“We decided to move the date from the 23rd to the 22nd, which gave Shatta’s team two or three days before their event to set up however they wanted to,” he is quoted as saying.

In an interview with spectator online, Professor Peter Twumasi said that his company’s legal staff had not yet signed contracts with both Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
