Tic, a Ghanaian artist formerly known as Tic Tac, has joined the clamor of Ghanaians seeking action from the country’s President in response to the country’s rising cost of living.
Tic shared his dismay on social media, adding that the economic situation has gotten so difficult that he and his family can barely afford to put food on the table. He notably mentioned the terrible price of Kenkey, a traditional Ghanaian meal, which has now risen to GH5. This sudden increase has led them to reduce their consumption of Kenkey, despite it being one of their favorite meals.

The hip life/hip-hop artist reflected on how, throughout his youth, Kenkey was one of the most economical meal options, and he never expected its price to increase to this extent. Tic also bemoaned the current GH5 pricing of coconuts and expressed grave concerns about Ghana’s general economic condition.
Tic stated, “Honestly, my family and I love Kenkey, but we’ve had to reduce our consumption because a single ball of Kenkey now costs GHC 5. I never imagined a day would come when Kenkey, one of the most affordable foods in my lifetime, would become so expensive. Can you believe that even a single coconut now costs GHC 5? This is the harsh reality we’re facing.” Below is the tweet.
Nana Kwaku Okyere Duah, also known as TiC and formerly Tic Tac, is a hiplife musician from Kwamo, a suburb in Ghana’s Ashanti Region.
He began performing with a group called ‘Natty Strangers’ in 1997, together with his best friend Bessem Bikhazi (also known as Cold Sweat). TiC went on to create a self-produced album when Bessem traveled to the UK to train as a commercial pilot after becoming Ghana’s most anticipated group, earning honors at festivals such as Kidafest, Fun World, Source, and others. TiC based his style after his favorite Busta Rhymes during his early career.[1][2] TiC is currently managed by Bessem Bikhazi, a fully qualified pilot.
