During a recent interview on the “Blezz The Mic”, part of Ekwanso dwoodwoo on Okay FM presented by Abeiku Santana, Ghanaian well-known Afro-pop and R&B artist, MzVee voiced her worries about the considerable gap in airplay provided to male and female artists in the Ghanaian music industry.

MzVee’s work falls under the genres of both R&B and Afro-pop. She brought attention to this issue as one of the ongoing problems that female artists in Ghana had to contend with.

“Talking about airplay, for example, we are already a lot in the industry, but we don’t get nearly enough airplay,” MzVee stated.

MzVee provided support for her position by comparing it to those of other worldwide music industries. She cited female performers like Beyoncé and Emeli Sandé as examples of those who, despite the fact that they are female, receive major airplay and support. This comparison sheds attention on the unpleasant truth that exists in Ghana, which is that, female musicians frequently have a more difficult time achieving the same degree of exposure and acclaim as their male counterparts.
